I bought this book for $20, as the latest edition of the same book is $82+, 4 times more than the original book. I could have saved some money by just reading this one, as both are basically the same. The content of the book is excellent. The old masters have presented a collection of chart patterns that are still relevant today. However, the book I received from Amazon seems to be a photocopied version, and the font is very tiny, but I still manage to read the first few chapters. As I progress into the later chapters, I realize that reading the chart figure becomes more challenging, especially the volume details at the bottom. Finally, I gave up and spent another $82+ on the latest 11th edition. I was not able to return this book as the return windows passed. So I end up paying $100+ for both books.

The latest edition does have very clear charts and quite easy to read. But the new edition has left out some of the vital edge case charts included in the original book, which I found quite useful. Some of the old masters valuable comments beneath the charts are either simplified or omitted in the latest edition. The original version has arranged the figures in such a way that they match the surrounding text. However, reading the new version, I have to flip back and forth to refer to the correct figure. The new master also adds some new charts that are useful in illustrating the subjects, but there are also quite a few of them just the screenshots of the software they are using. Some of them do not even have volume info at all. Additionally, there are numerous careless mistakes made throughout the latest edition. The new version has a very narrow margin and impossible to write your own notes and comments. Yet, the old edition has plenty of space to accommodate this.

In summary, if you can manage to read this old edition, including the charts. Just keep it as it seems to be more focused and direct. The new version, which is 4 times expensive than this cheaper edition, does have some improvement but not much to its original core value. I wish the publisher can do a better job of reproducing this masterpiece and yet make it affordable to all.

This is a reprint of the EXCELLENT 1958 edition. The writing style is magnificent. It looks wordy, but its actually fun to read, easy to understand, and incredibly interesting. Ive tried reading later editions from the library, but they had been modernized by the editor to the point that they had become directionless and overly wordy. This edition is strictly on chart patterns. No EMA, Stochastic oscillators, etc. If those are what you want to study, then see stockcharts.com. John Murphys *Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets* is also an excellent book. His chapters on chart patterns are more modern and direct, and he includes some of the more mathematical indicators you can find at stockcharts.com, at least superficially, but Edwards and Magee [unmodified] is still the best and most readable book on chart patterns, in my opinion.

While it covers the basics, personally I’d prefer to see (1) some colors on the charts and (2) more recent and relevant examples, instead of ones from the 1920’s and 1940’s.

I cant even comment on the T.A., because it is what it is but the font size of this version is so small its almost impossible to read. Honestly 8 font size at best. I realize its an old text but its pretty hard to read unfortunately. I would not order this version again.

This is a technical analysis book, focus on price pattern. If you are looking for RSI, MACD, etc, look else where. This book covers topics such as Symmetric Triangle, Gaps, Resist/support, etc. They are very detailed and I definitely learn a lot from this book.

If you want to buy this book, my advice is to buy an earlier edition (5th). The additional chatpers written by Bassetti simply doesnt match the quality of Edwards and Magee. For example, he uses internet stocks, such as Amazon or Cisco, to illustrate his point of dramatic/speculative crash. However, he uses charts which are unadjusted for split. If Amazon split 3-1, then there will be a big gap. The gap doesnt mean anything technically. He devotes an entire chatper to discuss false gaps like that! Very disturbing and unintelligent.

The original writers aer superb though. I strongly recommand this book for people who wants to learn the price pattern/action. If John Murphys book is like an encyclopedia of Technical Analysis, then this book focus mainly on the subject of price pattern.

I did without this book for many years. Now I wonder how I managed and how much easier things would have been. Timing decisions are much easier when you can identify what is taking place and have a firm idea of the trends and signals of the markets. This is the Bible of Technical Analysis.

An old book written a long time ago, Im sure it is fair to call it a classic, but not as good or easy to read as the books by Pring or Dahlquist. Worth reading but not first on the list.

This book is great value for money. Some chapters maybe irrelevant now, but the foundations are all there. If it was good enough for Gordon Gekko when he started out, then its good enough for you.

Received 9th edition published by Vision books rather than the 8th edition described. Binding appears poor quality - first and last few pages are falling out. Also, printing is poor - parts of letters missing on each page
