Deserves respect: Manchester United fans react as Daniel James nears Leeds United transfer

Manchester United fans have given their verdict on the news Daniel James is set to finally seal a permanent move to Leeds United.

The Welsh international is due to undergo a medical on deadline day with reports indicating a deal in excess of £25m has been agreed.

Marcelo Bielsa has retained an interest in James since his failed move in January 2019, where an inital loan move was scuppered when former club Swansea City failed to return Leeds communications in time.

The winger would go on to join arch rivals Manchester United that summer in a £15m deal, but the expensive additions of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho has made the Red Devils open to a transfer two years on.

Leeds United reacted quickest, and an official announcement is expected on Tuesday barring any late setbacks.

Koeman shows Riqui Puig the door

The name Riqui Puig may be a familiar one given that some months ago the Barcelona youngster was listed as a potential Leeds United transfer target.

That seemingly died down after Puig saw Barcelona exercise the option to extend his contract at Camp Nou, but one issue remained.

He has never fully convinced Los Cules boss Ronald Koeman and the beginning of this season has been no different.

Puig is yet to feature in LaLiga this term, missing each of Barcelonas opening three matches.

Spanish newspaper Marca now claim Koeman is finally ready to show Puig the door, with him unlikely to break through into the midfield trio, currently manned by Pedri, Frenkie de Jong and Sergio Busquets.

The report states:

Koeman always made his situation clear to the footballer and only necessity allowed Riqui to enjoy minutes during several games. He participated in up to 24 games , although in many of them in a testimonial way. Almost 600 minutes in which he tried, unsuccessfully, to convince the Dutch coach.

Good morning

Hello and welcome to todays live Leeds United blog.

Marcelo Bielsas side left it late, but claimed a 1-1 draw at Burnley yesterday, when Patrick Bamford was on hand to slot the ball home from close range at the end of a physical clash at Turf Moor.

That means Leeds head into the international break still looking for their first Premier League win of the season.

Meanwhile, were in the final 48 hours of the transfer window, meaning Leeds are in last-chance saloon if they are to strengthen their squad.

Leeds depth was tested when Mateusz Klich and Junior Firpo both revealed positive Covid-19 cases before the match yesterday, while rumours linking the club with Dan James have spiked up again, as Manchester United get set to welcome Cristiano Ronaldo back.

Well have more on this, plus the rest of the days developments right here, so stay tuned.
