An aquatic adventure with mermaids, from newly-signed Mary Clerté & Edouard Bertrand

Mary_clerte_-_pony_pony_run_run_-_sorry-14

Pony Pony Run Run take a boat into the deep blue sea for their new video “Sorry”. As far as aquatic adventures go, it's perhaps inevitable that a group of alluring mermaids would board, sending the vessel's instrumentation berserk in the sparkly waters, while they deliver the literal key to unlocking this oceanic riddle.

Beautifully crafted by directing pair Mary Clerté & Edouard Bertrand, who have incidentally now signed to Paritzan. And for good reason. Welcome to the family!

Skinny shoots in Lisbon, gets MVPA nomination for Yuksek

Skinny_in_lisbon_01-640

While Skinny has been shooting something new and exciting over in Lisbon recently (and definitely taking in the beautiful European skies, as you can see above), they've been getting some extra attention state-side as well. The duo just picked up a 2012 MVPA nomination for their Yuksek 'Always On the Run' video, in the Best Video Under $25K category.

Check out the full list of nominees over at Video Static.

High-five, Skinny!

AB/CD/CD Screening this week at Screen Social in London

There was a great turnout last month for Screen Social in London, featuring a whole lot of great work from Canada and our friends at Bullion.

The next screening is already coming up this Thursday, 10th May, and will feature work by our favourite Parisian trio, AB/CD/CD.

So all you Londoners, check the Screen Social event details on Facebook, clear your Thursday night and get yourself over to The Book Club in Shoreditch to experience AB/CD/CD the way they were always meant to be experienced — on four big screens.

Event details on Facebook, and more about Screen Social on their site.

Flat Eric returns, encourages you to steal new Mr Oizo EP

It's been a while since Flat Eric made an appearance. Some say he's been living on the run. Pockets full of sugar lumps. Fast(er) cars. Scantily clad puppets. The truth is, no one knows for sure.

But now he's back and… playing chess against William Fichtner, like some sort of tropical Seventh Seal, forestalling an imminent crack in the wall that keeps unrestrained shenanigans at bay.

Introducing Mr Oizo's new EP, 'Stade 3' — available for a digital five-finger discount at oizo3000.com now.

Directed by Quentin Dupieux, naturally:

Poppy de Villeneuve explores the Everglades for new short film

Crossing_brooklyn_ferry_header

What is it, then, between us?
What is the count of the scores or hundreds of years between us?

Walt Whitman's poem ‘Crossing Brooklyn Ferry’ lends its name to a three day festival in the borough, featuring collaborations between area filmmakers and musicians.

Among the exceptional collaborations to be presented is ‘And So We Begin Again’, a short film directed by Poppy de Villeneuve and shot in Florida's Everglades, with a ruminating soundtrack from Missy Mazzoli.

Created by America's oldest performing arts centre, Brooklyn Academy of Music, and curated by The National's Aaron and Bryce Dessner, the festival runs from May 3-5, and you can pick up tickets at the Crossing Brooklyn Ferry site.

Poppy's film is scheduled to screen on Friday, 4th May. Those who can attend, absolutely should.

New York Times T Magazine has a great post about the festival on their blog, so check that out while you're at it.

The ballad of delicious chicken

Jeremy_konner_-_kfc_-_so_good_01-500

While delicious and crispy chicken has been known to stir the hearts of many, the Colonel's particular secret recipe, seven decades strong, is no ordinary nosh. If ever there was chicken deserving of a formal ballad, this would be it. Golden goodness capable of moving people to uncontrollable jubilation, as expertly demonstrated here by director Jeremy Konner.

Wanna know what love is? Jeremy Konner can show you. Like, actually show you, since he makes a cameo in this spot. Check it out. Behind the scenes photos available on our Facebook page.
